I honestly don’t know how I do it. Week after week I stumble on a song I haven’t heard in a hot minute and remember how fucking dope it is, and bring it to all your guy’s attention with a Throwback Thursday. Had to use the edited version of the song because the video is that good, and it’s not like there that many changes to the lyrics anyways. Meth and Red don’t get nearly the amount of credit they deserve for being as good as they are. Fucking Eminem, aka the most talented lyricist of all time, says that Redman is his favorite rapper of all time. That’s pretty high praise from someone who knows a thing or two about rap. I absolutely lose it when they’re just creeping around looking like a bunch of T-Rex’s. Fucking classic. I don’t think there’s two cooler dudes in the game than these two. Point in case: the classic movie “How High”. Anyways, here’s “Da Rockwilder” by Method Man and Redman.

I don’t care who you are, if you don’t like this song then we simply can not be friends. I strictly listened to Dipset when I was a freshman in high school. Literally didn’t listen to anyone else other the Cam, Juelz, JR Writer, Freaky, 40 Cal, Jim Jones, ect. So when you pair one of my favorite Dipset members, who also happens to have the best ad libs in the game, and Lil Wayne when he was actually good, and you have the masterpiece of a song that goes by the name “Suck It Or Not”. Every line in this song is a quotable. First of all, the song starts off with, “My dick hard as a mother fucker”. Can’t really go wrong from there. Cam also makes sure to give step by step instructions for all you ladies out there, “Lick, suck, deep throat, stop, cough. Hop on, hop off, lollipop off. I know its white, but here comes the hot sauce”. Pure genius. And that’s just in the first verse. He continues to bring the heat in the second verse, “Lookin light skinned, mami was type slim. Fat ass, big tits, I noticed her nice chin (sturdy chin)”. PAHHHH!!!! And then we have Weezy in his prime. As he enlightens us, almost in a prophetic manner, “I get head in the strangest places. Two at the same time, call it changing faces. I tell the bitch we ain’t trading places, now stand back and catch my amazing graces. Taste and savor it. Vanilla ice cream, she said ooh my favorite. Do you know who you playin wit? Wayne. Chillin like the scarecrow, lookin for some brain”. That should be in the bible. That’s top 5 parables I’ve ever heard. Anyways, my main point is this song was an instant classic when it came out back in 2006. I would have put the video up because it has some lovely video vixens in it, but the only ones I could find were for the edited version of this song, which is comically terrible, and also pointless because this song was made to be offensive. So sit back, relax, and laugh your ass off to Cam and Weezy for a couple two tree minutes.

Some people might argue that this isn’t exactly a “throwback”, but its over 5 years old and its an absolute classic, so it meets my two requirements for being considered a “throwback”. Easily my favorite Sheek Louch song of all time. I don’t think it’s possible to listen to this song without immediately being in a good mood. “Throw a little dice, head cracked twice. Light something up, I’m startin to feel nice”. This beat just makes me want to dance around the kitchen and rap in the mirror, so excuse me while I do just that. I highly recommend you do the same.

“Still Not A Player” is probably one of the greatest songs of all time, in my personal opinion. I don’t know if there’s ever been a single time that this song has come on and I haven’t gotten hype as fuck. And I know I’m not the only person who feels that way. Just an absolute banger. “I’m not a player, I just fuck a lot” might be the greatest line in a hook. Ever. Also, claiming that you couldn’t measure his dick with six rulers is an even more absurd statement than Wilt claiming he’s plowed through over 25,000 women in his life. Like yea Pun, I’m sure you’ve got a 6 foot dong. HA! Yea, prolly dude. Love it.

Here’s a little Rakim “Show Me Love” for all y’all true hip hop heads out there. Just a quick little synopsis on Rakim, because I know a lot of people my age don’t really know too much about him other than that he is a rapper, including myself until I fully dived into his shit the other day thanks to my homie Jake. All of you guys saying Biggie or Pac or Nas or Jay or Em or whoever is your favorite rapper or is the best out or what have you, all of THOSE dudes always say that Rakim is THEIR favorite rapper, or the best, or whatever. He is responsible for so many of the flows and styles you hear out there today, and over the last 20 or so years. He is that dude. Do yourself a favor and go educate yourself on some of his shit. I promise you that you will not be disappointed.

I can’t believe that I can even have this as a throwback track but its almost been 10 years now since this amazing CD came out, so I think that counts. It blows my mind that its been 10 years since College Dropout first came out. I remember buying that CD at the music store like it was yesterday. Listening to it in my Walkman day and night until I memorized every word on the album. One of my favorite albums of all time for sure. Back when Kanye wasn’t on all the bull shit music he makes today. Don’t get me wrong, I like some of his newer shit, musically he is a very talented individual and he is definitely on some other shit, but College Dropout was by far his best hip hop album. So for the throwback track, I picked my favorite track off of the album, “All Falls Down”. Not only is this my favorite song on the album, its also my favorite song Kanye has ever put out, and it has one of my favorite lines of all time by anyone, “She’s so precious with the peer pressure. Couldn’t afford a car, so she named her daughter Alexis”. The Alexis/a lexus play on words is superb. And on top of this being my favorite Kanye song with my favorite Kanye line, it is also accompanied by my favorite Kanye music video, and one of the best videos of all time in my opinion. Just an all around classic on our hands this week folks. I would have just thrown the original track up here so it would be unedited but the music video is that good that I don’t care if its edited. Stacey Dash looking fine as hell as always playing the role of Kanye’s girlfriend, doing the damn thing in that dress (notice the nipples when Kanye hands her the cash at the beginning). My favorite part is when Kanye hops on the conveyer belt and you get the x-ray image of him going through. If you pay attention you’ll notice the mouth moving matches up damn near perfectly with the lyrics, and the hand motions and mannerisms match Kanye’s personality perfectly. And of course the cameo by Common at the end to top the whole thing off. Just an A++ effort on everyone’s part. I love this song. You should as well.

Wow. Almost bounced without throwing up a throwback track for you guys. Didn’t really feel like digging through the crates to give you guys a hidden gem that you wouldn’t know about, because, as I previously stated, I got shit to do, people to see, money to win. So here’s one of my all time favorite Eminem tracks, “As The World Turns”. This is just vintage Em here. Hilarious line after hilarious line. And my life motto for school since I bought this CD back in 5th grade and heard this song for the first time, “Fuck the next lesson, I’ll past the test guessin”. Enjoy. Love y’all.

In honor of AZ making his much anticipated comeback to the game, and as we patiently wait for Do or Die II to drop, which from the first two singles I’ve heard is going to be one hell of an album, AZ’s track “Rather Unique” is this weeks Throwback Thursday. You’ll find this song on the original Do or Die album. It is beyond me why this cat remains widely unknown amongst your casual hip hop fan, and very underrated even when educated hip hop heads bring up the “greatest MCs” discussion, despite being in the business for over 20 years. His rhyme scheme and wordplay techniques influenced many of the guys who commonly come up in the “greatest MCs” discussion. When it comes down to it, AZ can just flat out rap. So do a little homework and go peep some of his other songs, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Seeing as its Ghostface Killah’s birthday today, I felt it would only be appropriate to take the opportunity to make one of my favorite tracks by him this week’s throwback track. So here’s “Mighty Healthy”, off of the incredible album Supreme Clientele. Enjoy.

Figured it was about time I threw this track up. Scarface’s “My Block” is the definition of a classic. I would have thrown up the video too because it’s dope as hell, but alas, its edited, and that takes away from the song. The drop on this is spectacular. If you can’t get down to this song then you suck as a human. Shout out to Scarface, definitely one of the most underrated dudes of all time. People sleep on him because he’s from the South but hey, we can’t all be winners.
