So this kid Zach Hodskins is a guard for Alpharetta Milton School in Georgia, one of the states powerhouse schools for basketball. He was born without any part of his left arm from the elbow down, but he has never let that stop him from pursuing his basketball dreams. Apparently he shoots absolutely lights out from 3, and he continues to get better and better, and scouts are starting to take notice after his recent AAU summer tour with the Tennessee Playmakers. In fact, they are doing more than take notice. It has been confirmed by his former head coach that Hodskins was offered a preferred walk-on offer by the University of Florida. That’s right. Florida. Like the team that is less than a decade removed from back-to-back national titles. The team that is a perennial Final Four contender. Such an offer would guarantee Hodskins a spot on the team without a full scholarship, meaning that the Gators would have a one-handed player on their bench beginning with the 2014-15 season. When asked about how he manages to continue his success on the court, Hodskins said, “”When I’m out on the court, I forget my arm isn’t there and just play ball. Passion and love for the sport helps me overcome all obstacles. To this day I haven’t come across anything I can’t do”. This kid is the fucking MAN. This is the type of shit that should motivate everyone to go out and make the best of their situation. Do something meaningful. Pursue your dreams. As some dude by the name of Abraham Lincoln once said, “Its not the years in your life, but the life in your years”. And Zach Hodskins most certainly is fitting a shit ton of life into his years. Dude just flat out gets it. Love every single thing about this. It appears that Hodskins may have sealed the walk-on offer by excelling at the ScoutsFocus All American camp. Get Me Recruited, a hoops recruiting analysis and promotion site, called Hodskins the most impressive talent at the entire camp, citing his stunning ball handling ability and shockingly accurate passing. All this with one fucking arm. Incredible.
