Super Bowl Prediction

With yesterday bringing us Media Day, I feel that it’s time to speak on what I think is going to happen. First of all I’d like to congratulate myself for successfully picking the Super Bowl matchup back at the beginning of the season, naturally. But onto this Sunday. The line currently has Baltimore getting 3.5 points. I would bet on the Ravens to cover. I don’t see this game being any more than a field goal difference, so either way the Ravens would win, whether they win by 3 or lose by 3. Also, the over/under is at 47.5. Normally, when you think about a 49ers vs Ravens game you would think to take the under because their defenses are so good. But if you look at whats happened in the games both teams have played, it has been their offense that has been carrying them. Yes, their defenses are both playing well, Ravens just held Fag Brady and the Pats to 13 points, 0 in the second half. The 49ers, after a slow start, only giving up 7 points to Matt Ryan and company in the final 3 quarters of that game. But both offenses have been clicking on all cylinders. The 49ers went for 579 yards and 45 points vs. Green Bay then followed that with 373 yards and 28 points vs. the Falcons. The Ravens have been just as hot, going for 439 yards and 24 points vs. the Colts, 398 yards and 38 points vs. the Broncos, and 359 yards and 28 points vs. the Patriots. In those 3 games, Flacco is 51 for 93 (55%)  for 853 yards 8 TD’s and 0 INT’s. That’s just flat out getting it done. So, back to my original point, although both teams have been known for their defense, I would bet the over on this.

As far as my prediction for who’s going to win on Sunday, despite how much I like both teams and am impressed with how well they’ve played, I gotta go with the Ravens. Just too much magic right now. Plus, it’s Kaepernick’s first year as a starter. His time will come. Now, it’s Ray Lewis’ time. He deserves to go out on top for the way he has played this game we all love for the last 17 years. My pick for the final score was going to be Baltimore 27 San Fransisco 24, but then I was reading an interesting article about when Madden simulates the Super Bowl game and their prediction was that exact score, so I don’t want to seem like I’m just copying Madden. And as it turns out that their simulation has been correct 7 out of the 9 years since it started doing it, which is pretty impressive. So to avoid being called a copy cat, I’m changing my final score to Baltimore 31 San Fransisco 28, Ray Rice will have a huge game in both the running and passing game, Ray Lewis will break the record for most tackles in a single post season, Ed Reed will have an interception, and the Falcons will win with a field goal from kicker Justin Tucker, which will make fans forget all about stupid Billy Cundiff and his missed chip shot last year. Ray Lewis will go out holding the Lombardi Trophy and it’s going to be one hell of a football game. SPORTS!!!!!
