MLB Hall Of Fame Quandry

I’m baffled by what just happened with the Hall Of Fame votes. Honestly. This was arguably the best class since the inaugural class, and for the 8th time ever, not a single person got the necessary 75% of votes in order to be inducted. The list of candidates included such big names as Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Sammy Sosa, Craig Biggio, Jeff Bagwell, Mike Piazza, Tim Raines, Curt Schilling, Edgar Martinez, Larry Walker, Mark McGwire, Don Mattingly, and many others. I get the whole steroid bullshit with guys like Clemens, Sosa, Bonds, McGwire. I do. And I honestly don’t know how I feel about them making the Hall Of Fame. They obviously have the numbers, Bonds hit like 230 (realistically 73) home runs in one season for christ’s sake. But they will forever be linked to “cheating”. In their defense, I’m sure every damn player in baseball during that era was using some form of steroids or PED’s, so technically your not really gaining an advantage if everyone is using it. But that’s a debate for another day. What I’m fucking pissed off about is how a guy like Craig Biggio gets snubbed, especially when he has no ties whatsoever to steroids. He was the closest to getting in, acquiring 68% of votes, but as we all know, close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. This guy is an exemplary player. Undersized, always playing with a chip on his shoulder, 3,060 hits in his career (one of 28 players to ever accomplish such a feat), over 1,000 RBIs from the top of the lineup, he even holds the record for most times hit by a pitch with 285. That’s a lot of fucking bruises to wake up to the next morning. This guy basically poured his heart and soul out every time he stepped on the field for 20 years and the fact that he got snubbed is an outrage. I understand it was only his first time on the ballot, and every player gets 15 attempts as long as they get above 5% of votes each year, but still. I’m beginning to wonder if they’re ever going to let anyone in the Hall Of Fame anymore. With a list like this year’s its inconceivable that no one would get in, but somehow it happened. I’m disgusted with the voters, they all need to take the stick out of their ass and loosen up a bit. Fucking idiots.
